Official Trailer for 'Copa 71' Doc - About the 1971 Women's World Cup
"It was important for women to see that this was possible." Greenwich Entertainment has debuted a trailer for a sports history documentary film titled Copa 71, arriving to watch in June. It first premiered at TIFF 2023 last year, with stops at the London, Philadelphia, AFI Fest, and GAPteborg Film Festivals. Told by the pioneering women who participated, this is the extraordinary story of the 1971 Women's Soccer World Cup, a tournament witnessed by record crowds that has been written out of sporting history a until now. This is the entirely true story of the 1971 Womenas World Cup, which was held in Mexico City and witnessed by more than 100,000 fans. This landmark tournament was dismissed by FIFA, of course, which should be no surprise to anyone familiar with this sordid sports organization. The doc film features interviews with various players who participated in the World Cup in 1971 and many others. Executive produced by Venus & Serena Williams. This looks awesome! Glad this once forgotten story is finally being told with proper pizazz. Here's the official US trailer (+ ...
Watch: Entrancing Short 'Sit Down, Don't Touch Anything' on Creativity
Do you sometimes struggle with creativity? How do you motivate and inspire yourself (again) when you're out of energy to create? The latest short film creation from Swiss animation filmmaker Frederic Siegel is this 5-minute film titled Sit Down, Don't Touch Anything. It's an entrancing, hypnotic short about the creative process inspired, of course, by Frederic's own challenges with creativity. "I worked on [this film for] the last two years more or less in complete secrecy during the pandemic. I started with experimenting on new, weird styles and ended up with a weird 5-minute, experimental short." No other intro is needed, just click play on the video, turn up the volume, enter full screen a and enjoy. Frederic also works with a Swiss animation design studio called Team Tumult and they've made some awesome shorts in the past (highly recommend The Lonely Orbit). This new one is a solo short but still as mesmerizing as ever. Dive in below. Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this debuting online. Here's the very brief intro from YouTube: "A face ...

Catching a Serial Killer in Crime Thriller 'The Execution' Official Trailer
"It's him. I can feel it." 4Digital Media has revealed an official US trailer for a dark, brutal crime thriller title The Execution, loosely based on a true story about a Russian serial killer that was very hard to catch. After first opening in theaters in 2022, this film is headed to VOD in the US this May. For 10 years the country's most wanted serial killer has evaded police. Even when he's finally caught, nobody can prove his guilt. As the manhunt intensifies, the investigation grows increasingly personal between detective and suspect. After its world premiere at both Fantastic Fest and the Sitges Film Festival back in 2021, and a theatrical release in Russia, 4Digital will debut this on VOD soon. The film stars Niko Tavadze, Evgeniy Tkachuk, Daniil Spivakovskiy, and Aglaya Tarasova. Described in reviews as "a brutal & gripping psychological thriller." This certainly looks inspired by David Fincher's Se7en and many other brutal serial killer thrillers like that. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Lado Kvataniya's film The Execution, direct from YouTube: This new film is loosely ...
Full Trailer for 'Jurassic World: Chaos Theory' Netflix Animated Series
"We're all in danger... and whoever is hunting us, they're using raptors to do it." "Raptors? For real?" 🦖 Netflix has debuted the main official trailer for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, the next new animated series in the Jurassic World / Jurassic Park franchise. While this is a brand new animated series, it's also a follow-up to Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, which launched in 2020 and ran through five seasons (+ one extra special) until 2022. Chaos Theory continues following Darius Bowman, a young paleontologist from the original series who discovers that live dinosaurs are roaming California's wilderness. Set six years after the events at Camp Cretaceous, members of "The Nublar Six" are struggling to find their footing off the islands, navigating a world now filled with dinosaurs and people who want to hurt them. With the voices of Paul-Mikel Williams as Darius, Sean Giambrone as Ben, Darren Barnet, Raini Rodriguez, and Kausar Mohammed. Animated by DreamWorks Animation for Amblin & Universal. While this series is still made for kids, it seems a bit darker & scarier, especially with raptors ...
Official Trailer for The Beatles' Original 1970 Film 'Let It Be' Restored
"At last..." They're back again! Disney+ has revealed the main official trailer for a restored re-release of The Beatles classic 1970 film Let It Be, a music documentary about their last performance. This is a follow-up to Peter Jackson's acclaimed docu-series The Beatles: Get Back, which debuted streaming back in 2021 during the pandemic. Jackson took a lot of footage, re-edited it, and presented it exactly as it was shot to return everyone to 1969/1970 when the band was at the end of their time. This doc film re-release also does the same, with even more footage that wasn't in the Get Back series. Let It Be is the filmed account of The Beatles' attempt to recapture their old group spirit by making a back to basics album, which instead drove them further apart. With director Michael Lindsay-Hogg's full support, Apple Corps asked Jackson's Park Road Post Production to dive into a meticulous restoration of the film from the original 16mm negative, which included lovingly remastering the sound using the same MAL de-mix technology that was applied to the Get ...

Classic Trailer Rewatch: Ron Howard's True Story Thriller 'Apollo 13'
"Houston, we have a problem." This is easily one of my all-time favorite space movies. Ron Howard's docu-drama thriller Apollo 13 first opened in theaters in the summer of 1995, celebrating its 29th anniversary this year. The old 35mm trailer scanner YouTube recently posted a crisp 2160p scan of the original Apollo 13 trailer. Though this actually plays more like a teaser, setting up the story and stakes and characters without showing too much (the full trailer is also available right below it). In this movie based on a true story, NASA must devise a strategy to return Apollo 13 (which launched in April 1970) to Earth safely after the spacecraft undergoes massive internal damage putting the lives of the three astronauts on board in jeopardy. Starring Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, Kevin Bacon as Jack Swigert, Bill Paxton Fred Haise, and Ed Harris on the ground as Flight Director Gene Kranz. One of the most nerve-wracking survival movies ever, perfectly shot by Howard and his DP Dean Cundey to make it all feel so real, as if the actors ...
